TechFlow news: OP Labs announced that the Optimism Goerli testnet will migrate to Bedrock on January 12, 2023.
Most users and applications will not be affected by this upgrade. Optimism has currently partnered with Alchemy, Ankr, Chainlink, Etherscan, Infura, QuickNode, and Tenderly to ensure a smooth transition. On January 12, a shared migrated database will be provided so these partners and other node operators can launch their upgraded nodes.
As previously reported, in May this year, Optimism announced the launch of its decentralized Rollup infrastructure Bedrock, which reuses Ethereum's code, infrastructure, and design patterns as much as possible, stating that "EVM equivalence" is outdated and Bedrock brings "Ethereum equivalence." Optimism said Bedrock will be released as the underlying architecture for Cannon, its interactive fault-proof system, offering benefits including reduced transaction fees, increased maximum throughput, and faster node synchronization.
