TechFlow news — Today, the Cosmos community has initiated an on-chain governance referendum to upgrade the Cosmos Hub into a cross-network infrastructure platform as part of ATOM 2.0. This governance proposal aims to position ATOM as the preferred staking asset within the Cosmos ecosystem, advancing the infrastructure service platform Cosmos Hub into its next evolutionary phase. The voting period ends on November 14, and current data shows over 92% of voters in favor.
On September 26, Tendermint, the developer behind Cosmos, unveiled the ATOM 2.0 whitepaper at the Cosmoverse conference. ATOM 2.0 will enable the Cosmos Hub to play a central role in cross-chain interoperability, making it easier to connect and scale cross-chain applications. The proposal also includes changes to ATOM's utility and issuance schedule, planning to transition from exponential issuance to a fixed monthly supply after a 36-month period.Source link
