TechFlow reports that a group of protocols based on the Solana blockchain has announced the launch of a cross-chain messaging organization called Open Chat Alliance, aimed at advancing simplified encrypted communication through open-source standards. The Open Chat Alliance has already garnered support from 19 Solana ecosystem projects, including messaging platform Notifi Network, Solana Name Service (SNS) provider Bonfida, and NFT-powered social media platform Only1.
The alliance stated it will establish a communication standard that projects across different blockchains can adopt, despite technical differences between chains. For instance, an interoperable standard would theoretically allow a Solana user to easily send a message to a user on Ethereum.
