TechFlow news — OpenSea has announced that a former employee of its email service provider, Customer, abused their access by downloading and sharing users' email addresses with unauthorized third parties. The platform urges all users to remain vigilant regarding any email-related activities, especially phishing scams impersonating OpenSea. Specific security recommendations include:
1. Beware of phishing emails pretending to be from OpenSea; always verify the official domain opensea.io;
2. Never download anything from an OpenSea email;
3. Carefully inspect all hyperlinks in OpenSea emails that direct to external pages;
4. Never share or confirm your password, wallet details (such as recovery phrases or private keys);
5. Never sign wallet transactions that pop up directly from email links.
Additionally, OpenSea stated it is actively working with Customer and has reported the incident to law enforcement authorities.
