TechFlow News, according to CoinDesk, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has canceled his appearance at the Bitcoin 2022 conference.
In an English letter addressed to attendees, Bukele wrote: "I have just made the difficult decision to cancel my participation in the conference, as unforeseen circumstances in El Salvador require me to fully fulfill my duties as president." The president did not elaborate on the specific situation.
It has been reported that gang-related violence has surged recently in El Salvador, prompting the government to declare a state of emergency on March 27.
