TechFlow news on March 28: Filecoin introduced the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM) compatible with EVM, aiming to bring smart contract programmability to the Filecoin network. The native code language of FVM is WASM (WebAssembly), and it will initially achieve EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatibility. With FVM, the Filecoin network can gain computational capabilities in addition to its existing storage functions. Furthermore, FVM will be launched in phases—planning a protocol fork in the first quarter of 2022 to introduce preparatory adjustments such as Gas mechanisms and architectural changes before developer programmability. Subsequently, in the second quarter of 2022, programmability will be introduced, including redesigned system roles and deeper protocol modifications, making it easier to program against system roles.
