TechFlow news — Ethereum core developer Tim Beiko released updates from the latest core developers meeting, covering topics including the difficulty bomb, the "Shanghai" upgrade, progress on Ethereum execution layer specifications, and a new Protocol Guild initiative aimed at compensating client developers and researchers with tokens from Ethereum-based projects.
1. Intensified testing is underway on the Kiln merge testnet to ensure all implementations are secure and stable. If everything is ready, The Merge will be executed on existing testnets such as Ropsten, Goerli, and Sepolia.
2. The Ethereum difficulty bomb is expected to arrive in June;
3. Planning for the next Ethereum upgrade, "Shanghai," is currently underway. Key proposed upgrades include EVM improvements, enabling withdrawals from the beacon chain, reducing Layer 2 fees, and several minor enhancements;
4. Work on the executable specification for the Ethereum execution layer is progressing smoothly, with the next step being coordination of the EL+CL upgrade process;
5. Protocol Guild is an initiative designed to provide token compensation to client developers and researchers working on Ethereum-based projects. It already has over 100 members and is preparing to launch its pilot program.
