TechFlow News, March 16 — According to Decrypt, decentralized 5G infrastructure provider FreedomFi has announced the completion of a $9.5 million Series A funding round, with participants including Samsung’s venture arm Next, Qualcomm Ventures, and Blueyard Capital.
FreedomFi supplies firmware and small cell hardware for Helium's new token-driven 5G network, enabling individual node operators to earn HNT tokens through the decentralized network while providing connectivity services to nearby smartphones, laptops, and tablets. Currently, Helium’s global active node count exceeds 640,000.
Boris Renski, CEO of FreedomFi, revealed that approximately 10,000 small cell deployment kits have been sold since their launch in October, with around half currently deployed on Helium’s 5G network. FreedomFi is currently the sole manufacturer of Helium 5G gateways, aiming to deploy 50,000 units by the end of 2022.
