TechFlow News, according to Reuters, following Kraken CEO Jesse Powell's statement that it cannot block Russian users' addresses without legal requirements, Binance has also responded by refusing to freeze accounts belonging to Russian users. A Binance representative told Reuters the exchange would not "unilaterally freeze millions of innocent users' accounts," as "cryptocurrency is intended to provide greater financial freedom for people worldwide." However, Binance said it would comply with freezing accounts of Russian users who are already under sanctions. Reuters added that pressure from Ukraine on cryptocurrency platforms continues. The country is reportedly seeking legal mandates and official sanctions, and the head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation’s virtual assets task force confirmed efforts will be made to compel exchanges to take action.
