TechFlow News – According to blocktempo, on December 3, a white-hat hacker reported a critical vulnerability in Polygon's genesis contract to the bug bounty platform Immunefi. The vulnerability stemmed from the MRC20 contract's transfer function lacking limit checks, which could have allowed attackers to steal over 9.2 billion MATIC (worth over $24 billion). Polygon stated that the issue has been patched, but during the patching window, hackers managed to steal 801,601 MATIC (approximately $2 million). The team has confirmed it will fully cover the losses.
