TechFlow News — The New York Times reported on the 22nd that Andrew Bosworth, who will become Meta’s CTO next year, outlined a vision in an internal memo on Tuesday, stating that future social networks should collaborate with various web3 technologies such as blockchains or cryptocurrencies. He emphasized that Meta should adopt these technologies ahead of others, noting that blockchain technology could "have a profound impact on our industry over the next decade."
"My general guidance is deep compatibility with blockchain," he wrote. "I don’t expect us to be fully reliant on it in many areas, but if we see opportunities to collaborate with entrepreneurs in the web3 space, I believe it will be worthwhile." He also noted that while most people are happy using Facebook and Google, there are some who are not. Many of those who choose to opt out have gone on to create truly impressive technological movements. Additionally, he urged Meta employees not to overcorrect by relying too heavily on decentralized technologies.
