TechFlow news — Standard Chartered's venture arm, SC Ventures, and BC Technology Group have announced a partnership to establish a digital asset brokerage and trading platform serving institutional and corporate clients in the UK and Europe. Usman Ahmad, Chief Information Officer of BC Technology Group, will serve as CEO of the new joint venture, while Nick Philpott from SC Ventures will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer. The joint venture will leverage OSL, BC Technology Group’s digital asset technology platform, along with Standard Chartered’s global network and brokerage expertise, to expand into European markets. It will connect institutional trading clients with counterparties and provide liquidity pools for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other digital assets. Subject to regulatory approval, the joint venture plans to launch in the UK during the fourth quarter of 2021.
Standard Chartered plc is listed on the London and Hong Kong stock exchanges, and SC Ventures is its innovation investment division. BC Technology Group is a digital asset company that operates OSL, a Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission-licensed and insured digital asset platform. OSL offers prime brokerage services, digital asset custody, an exchange, and software-as-a-service (SaaS), specifically designed for institutional and professional investors.
