TechFlow news — Brian Brooks, acting Comptroller of the Currency and former Chief Legal Officer at Coinbase, said in an interview with CNBC that regulators are "very focused on not killing" the crypto industry.
"We're very focused on not strangling this. The development of networks behind Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is as important to us as preventing money laundering and terrorist financing," Brooks said.
"So believe me, there will be very positive messages coming out. At the same time, the world out there is dangerous, and we have to face it squarely. But nobody is going to ban Bitcoin, nobody is going to ban some of these transmission technologies," he assured viewers.
At the end of November, Jay Clayton, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, told CNBC that Bitcoin as a payment method might face increased regulation.
