TechFlow news—China Construction Bank's official mobile app now shows that its "Digital RMB Wallet" is open for registration. Users can search for “digital wallet top-up” or “digital currency” within the app, link a bank card, and directly activate the service. This feature may currently be available only in select pilot regions.
The "Digital RMB Wallet" comes in two forms: a digital RMB app wallet and a hardware wallet. The former refers to wallet services provided through smart applications supporting digital RMB wallets, while the latter refers to physical media for storing digital RMB opened via bank counters or electronic channels. As DC/EP carriers with hardware security modules, they support basic functions such as cashing in and out, balance crediting and debiting, spending, transfers, and balance inquiries.
According to earlier reports, on May 8, screenshots circulating in online communities indicated that China Construction Bank was internally testing its DCEP digital wallet.
