TechFlow News, May 28: The State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the “Guidance on Building the Artificial Intelligence Metrology System and Capabilities (2026 Edition),” systematically planning the development of AI metrology capabilities. The Guidance outlines a comprehensive framework across six key areas: foundational support, general-purpose technologies, core technologies, metrological technical specifications, metrology services for industry, and intelligent empowerment of metrology—bridging the “last mile” between laboratory innovation and industrial application. Focusing on the challenge of “inaccurate measurement,” the Guidance aims to enhance AI’s trustworthiness. Addressing pain points such as algorithmic “black boxes” and poor decision interpretability, it prioritizes critical R&D efforts—including internal state monitoring and characterization of AI systems—to establish reliable, safe, and trustworthy AI metrological standards, enabling AI technical performance to be “measurable, comparable, and traceable.” (Jinshi)
