TechFlow News, May 22: According to FinanceFeeds, an attempted kidnapping of Sebastien Borget’s wife—the co-founder and COO of The Sandbox—took place in Villeneuve-sur-Yonne, Seine-et-Marne, France. Five masked assailants posed as delivery personnel and broke into the residence, attempting to forcibly drag her into a getaway vehicle; however, the attempt failed after nearby residents promptly responded to her cries for help. Subsequently, France’s Meaux Anti-Crime Brigade intercepted a ride-hailing vehicle and arrested two suspects found in possession of replica firearms, zip ties, and hoods. Both suspects were minors born in 2009 and 2010, respectively. According to statistics from France’s National Judicial Police Directorate, 41 attempted crypto-related kidnappings have been recorded in France this year—accounting for approximately 80% of such incidents across Europe. Authorities have classified the trend as a national security crisis and urged Web3 public figures to reduce their online visibility to safeguard their families’ safety.
