TechFlow News, May 19: According to a Reuters report, Meta’s Chief People Officer Janelle Gale sent an internal memo to employees this Monday, disclosing details of the company’s restructuring plan. On Wednesday, Meta will lay off 10% of its workforce and reassign approximately 7,000 employees to AI-related departments—including Applied AI Engineering (AAI) and the Agent Transformation Accelerator (ATA)—while also reducing management layers to implement a flatter organizational structure. Combined, these layoffs and reassignments will affect roughly 20% of Meta’s employees; additionally, the company has already eliminated 6,000 open positions. As of the end of March this year, Meta employed approximately 78,000 people. This restructuring aims to accelerate Meta’s full transition to AI-native workflows and develop AI agents capable of autonomously performing human tasks.
