TechFlow reports that on May 11, JPYC’s official Japanese announcement warned users that counterfeit tokens with names, logos, or symbols similar to “JPYC” may appear when searching for “JPYC” in wallets or decentralized exchanges (DEXs). The official notice emphasized that users must never rely solely on a token’s name or icon to verify its authenticity. Instead, users must strictly verify that the token’s smart contract address matches exactly the one listed in the official FAQ—any discrepancy, even a single character, indicates a different token. Users are further advised not to send, swap, approve, or sign transactions involving any unfamiliar tokens.
