TechFlow News, April 23: According to Protos, adult website Pornhub has discontinued using Tether (USDT) for creator payout settlements and has switched to Circle’s USDC. In an email sent to creators, Pornhub stated that this transition aims to make payout disbursements “more reliable” and emphasized that USDC is a fully reserved, MiCA-compliant stablecoin regulated under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.
Pornhub initially adopted USDT in 2020 after PayPal announced it would sever ties with the platform; at the time, it built its payment infrastructure using TronLink wallet, developed by Justin Sun’s TRON ecosystem. Following this switch, the aforementioned partnership has also been removed from Pornhub’s creator page.
