TechFlow News, April 22: SpaceX announced today that it has reached a letter of intent to collaborate with AI-powered programming startup Cursor. Under the agreement, Cursor has granted SpaceX the right—exercisable later this year—to acquire Cursor for $60 billion, or alternatively, to pay $10 billion to advance their collaboration.
According to reports, Anysphere—the developer behind Cursor—raised a $400,000 pre-seed round in April 2022, co-led by Alameda Research and Heroic Ventures. Alameda invested $200,000 in exchange for approximately 5% equity. This stake was sold at its original purchase price during the FTX bankruptcy liquidation; had it been retained, it would now be worth roughly $3 billion.
