TechFlow reports that on April 14, crypto investigator ZachXBT posted on his personal channel stating that, according to community alerts, a counterfeit Ledger Live app appeared on the Apple App Store, resulting in over 50 suspected victims losing more than $9.5 million across Bitcoin, Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Tron, Solana, and Ripple blockchains between April 7 and 13. The stolen funds were laundered through the centralized mixing service AudiA6 via over 150 KuCoin-associated addresses. Primary compromised addresses included accounts across multiple chains, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. The top three victims each lost over $1 million in a single transaction, with the largest loss amounting to $3.23 million in USDT on April 9.
Apple removed the counterfeit app yesterday. Illegal activities linked to KuCoin have significantly increased over the past year: in January 2025, KuCoin paid over $300 million in penalties to the U.S. government for violating anti-money laundering regulations, and in February 2026, Austrian regulators banned KuCoin from acquiring new users in the EU.
