TechFlow News, April 13: According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, a senior U.S. official revealed that the U.S. blockade against Iran has officially taken effect, with more than 15 U.S. warships deployed to support the operation. U.S. Navy and Central Command officials stated that the U.S. has deployed an aircraft carrier, multiple guided-missile destroyers, an amphibious assault ship, and several other warships to the Middle East. These vessels are capable of launching helicopters to support boarding inspections, and some can also guide merchant ships to designated anchorage areas.
Retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Kevin Donegan noted that these warships may operate outside the Strait of Hormuz to avoid Iranian fire threats. Donegan said: “There are many ways to structure this operation, and there is already substantial boarding inspection capability in the region. Don’t expect all operations to commence simultaneously—it will be a phased buildup. A blockade takes time to produce results.” (Jinshi)
