TechFlow News: According to the Chosun Ilbo, on February 6, during a promotional event, South Korean exchange Bithumb mistakenly distributed a reward of 620,000 KRW as 620,000 BTC. Bithumb swiftly canceled the erroneous distribution afterward; however, some users had already sold or converted the BTC into other assets, resulting in BTC worth 12.3 billion KRW failing to be recovered in time. Subsequently, through negotiations, Bithumb has recovered most of the misallocated BTC, but 7 BTC (approximately USD 490,000) remain unrecovered. Bithumb has officially initiated asset preservation procedures and is preparing to file civil lawsuits against users who have not returned the funds.
