TechFlow News, April 1: According to reports by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Russia Today (RT), on April 1, Ibrahim Aziz, Chairman of Iran’s Parliament Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, posted a message directly addressing U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that the Strait of Hormuz would certainly reopen—but not to the United States. The conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran has now lasted over a month. As the world’s critical maritime chokepoint, the Strait of Hormuz has seen severely disrupted shipping, triggering a cascade of global repercussions—including soaring shipping costs and supply chain realignments. The Strait plays a vital role in global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply and transportation. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), stated on March 16 that current supply losses have already exceeded those experienced during the 1973 oil crisis. Restoring normal shipping operations through the Strait of Hormuz is essential to stabilizing the oil market. (Caixin Global)
