TechFlow News, March 31: According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, U.S. government officials revealed that President Trump has informed his aides he is willing to end U.S. military operations against Iran—even while the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed. This move could prolong Tehran’s firm control over the waterway and defer the complex task of reopening the strait to a later date. Recently, Trump and his team assessed that clearing this critical chokepoint would extend the conflict beyond his stated four-to-six-week timeline.
Trump has decided that the United States should achieve its primary objectives—degrading Iran’s navy and missile stockpiles—and gradually wind down the current hostilities, while simultaneously pressuring Iran diplomatically to restore free trade. Officials stated that if this diplomatic approach fails, Washington will urge its European and Gulf allies to lead efforts to reopen the strait. They added that Trump retains the option of pursuing a military solution—but it is not his current priority. (Jinshi)
