TechFlow News: On March 19, according to Cointelegraph, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California recently dismissed a motion filed by Coinbase user Roger Metz seeking to block an IRS subpoena. Metz filed the lawsuit in May 2025, arguing that the IRS subpoena—requiring Coinbase to produce his financial records related to a 2022 tax audit—violated his privacy rights and was procedurally improper; he also claimed he had independently identified the error and paid the outstanding taxes prior to issuance of the subpoena. The court ruled that “service of process was insufficient” because Metz failed to notify the U.S. Attorney General within 90 days, and accordingly dismissed the case—but permitted him to refile the motion at a later date.
