TechFlow News, March 3: According to DL News, South Korean police are investigating a series of “revenge attacks” funded by cryptocurrency. Suspects receive anonymous payments of $300–$600 in cryptocurrency via Telegram from employers to vandalize and defame targeted residences. In a recent case in Hwaseong City, a suspect in his twenties named Lim spray-painted the victim’s front door with red paint, scattered food waste outside the residence, and smeared human excrement in the stairwell. South Korean police believe a group calling itself a “Private Revenge Organization” is active on Korean-language Telegram channels. Similar phenomena have also been observed in Russia, where intermediaries offer customized revenge services via Telegram and cryptocurrency—charging up to $1,500—and primarily use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to maintain anonymity.
