TechFlow News: On March 2, according to Decrypt, South Korea’s Minister of Economy and Finance and Deputy Prime Minister Koo Yun-cheol announced a comprehensive reform of cryptocurrency management across government agencies. This move follows an incident in which Seoul’s Gangnam District Police lost approximately $1.4 million worth of 22 bitcoins due to failure to retain private keys. The Ministry of Economy and Finance will collaborate with relevant bodies—including the Financial Services Commission—to review the management of digital assets held by government and public institutions through law enforcement measures such as asset seizures, and will swiftly implement enhanced security measures for digital assets. Two suspects linked to the police bitcoin loss case have already been arrested, and prosecutors are investigating potential bribery.
