TechFlow News, February 27: According to Fortune, Donna Morris, Walmart’s Chief People Officer, recently warned that the U.S. must strengthen its AI talent development to maintain global competitiveness. She specifically highlighted China’s leadership in integrating AI into education, noting that “5-year-olds are learning DeepSeek,” and that Chinese students spend more time in class on average than their U.S. peers.
According to reports, primary and secondary schools in Beijing offer at least eight hours of AI instruction per academic year, covering topics such as chatbot usage and AI ethics. Data from the Paulson Institute shows that nearly one-third of the world’s top AI talent was born in China.
To address this challenge, over 400 U.S. CEOs—including those from Microsoft, DoorDash, and Airbnb—have jointly called for computer science and AI education to become mandatory for U.S. students. Major corporations including Deloitte, Verizon, and Walmart have also launched large-scale AI training programs for their employees.
