TechFlow News: On February 4, Amazon (AMZN.O) officially launched its upgraded Alexa in the U.S., offering an AI-enhanced digital assistant to paid Prime members. In February last year, Amazon announced its revamped digital assistant—built on large language models—that can generate answers to questions in real time. Previous versions of Alexa relied on pre-written, fixed responses for common queries. During the early-access period lasting 11 months, U.S. Prime members paying an annual fee of $139 may apply to use the software and gain access in batches. Daniel Rausch, Vice President of Amazon’s Alexa and Echo smart speaker team, stated that as of January, tens of millions of people were already using Alexa+. Starting this Wednesday, non-Prime users may subscribe to Alexa+ separately for $19.99 per month—approximately $100 more annually than the Prime membership fee. (Jinshi)
