TechFlow has learned that on January 9, the Pudong New Area People's Procuratorate in Shanghai disclosed a case involving a black-market industrial chain for illegally querying and selling citizens' location information. The suspects conducted transactions by exchanging virtual currency, profiting illegally from the activity. According to judicial appraisal, over 1,000 instances of personal location data were unlawfully accessed, with total illegal gains amounting to approximately 1.17 million yuan. The involved individuals have now been sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from one year to three and a half years, along with fines ranging from 40,000 to 500,000 yuan.
