TechFlow reports on January 8 that Josh Swihart, CEO of Electric Coin Company (ECC), the core development team behind Zcash, disclosed on Twitter that the entire ECC team has resigned. The reason cited was a clear misalignment between the majority members of the Bootstrap Board—a nonprofit organization supporting Zcash and responsible for overseeing Electric Coin Company—and the mission of Zcash. Swihart stated that Bootstrap Board members Zaki Manian, Christina Garman, Alan Fairless, and Michelle Lai altered the team's employment terms in a way that prevented them from effectively carrying out their duties. The ECC team will now form a new company but will continue to uphold the same mission: building an unstoppable private currency. Swihart emphasized that the Zcash protocol remains unaffected by this event, and the decision was made to protect the team’s work from malicious governance actions.
