TechFlow news, on January 7th, Telegram founder Pavel Durov stated on social media that despite some fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD), Telegram does not rely on Russian capital. He pointed out that there were no Russian investors participating in the company's recent issuance of $1.7 billion in bonds. The old bonds issued in 2021 have been largely repaid and do not pose any issues. Bondholders are not equivalent to shareholders, and he himself is the sole shareholder of Telegram.
Previously, the UK's Financial Times reported that Telegram's $5 billion bonds in Russia were frozen by the national settlement depository due to Western sanctions against Russia.
