TechFlow news, on January 7, according to Cryptopolitan, cryptocurrency ATM operator Bitcoin Depot has reached an agreement with the Maine Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection (BCCP) to pay $1.9 million in compensation to Maine residents who fell victim to third-party scams at the company's self-service terminals.
Under the agreement, victims in Maine who used Bitcoin Depot ATMs to convert cash into cryptocurrency and deposited the cryptocurrency into "non-custodial wallets" provided by scammers between 2022 and 2025 are eligible to apply for refunds. The deadline for claims is April 1, 2026.
