TechFlow News, January 6th, according to a report by Cointelegraph, Bitcoin Core developers warned users on Monday that versions v30.0 and v30.1 contain a severe wallet migration vulnerability, which, under specific conditions, could delete local wallet files and lead to loss of funds. This vulnerability primarily affects older, unupgraded wallets that use custom wallet directories and have pruning enabled. The developers have removed the problematic versions from the official download sites and advise users to suspend the use of wallet migration tools until the fixed version v30.2 is released. Given that Bitcoin Core accounts for approximately 78% of Bitcoin nodes, such vulnerabilities could have widespread impacts on the entire ecosystem. Experts recommend that affected users immediately back up their data directories and wait for the updated version.
