TechFlow News, January 5th, according to The Block, Bitcoin Core development activity saw significant growth in 2025, reversing a multi-year downward trend. Annual data released by Casa Chief Security Officer Jameson Lopp shows that Bitcoin Core mailing list traffic increased by 60% year-over-year, with a total of 135 independent code contributors involved in development, and approximately 285,000 lines of code were changed.
This growth trend reversed the continuous decline since 2018, when the number of contributors had peaked at around 193. In 2025, Bitcoin Core also completed its first public third-party security audit, conducted by Quarkslab and funded by the non-profit organization Brink, with no severe or high-risk vulnerabilities found.
