Deep Tide TechFlow news, on December 31, according to Jin10 data reports, Citigroup economists stated that caution should be exercised regarding the decline in unemployment benefit claims around the holiday period. During the week of Christmas, the number of unemployment benefit claims dropped from 215,000 to 199,000, while forecasters had expected 220,000. Citigroup noted, "The seasonal adjustment issues for the holiday week this year appear to be significantly more severe than in the past, and more reliable signals from the initial jobless claims data may not emerge until later in January." However, the data indicates that layoffs remain at low levels, and Citigroup expects non-farm payrolls to increase by 75,000 in December, with the data set to be released next week. Citigroup also stated, "But we still anticipate the unemployment rate to rise to 4.7%, partly due to another increase in the labor force participation rate."
