TechFlow, on December 30, according to Radio Macau, a woman in Macau fell victim to a cryptocurrency investment scam, suffering losses of up to 1.18 million yuan. Since mid-September, she was lured by an online acquaintance into investing in cryptocurrencies and transferred money eight times to designated accounts. During this period, the platform showed an account balance indicating profits of 7.9 million yuan, but when attempting to withdraw funds, the scammer demanded approximately 250,000 yuan as a "currency exchange difference." It was not until December 20, when she lost contact with the scammer, that she realized she had been defrauded.
Meanwhile, another elderly male resident in Macau also encountered a similar scam, transferring 110,000 Hong Kong dollars to an online acquaintance claiming to be the head of a securities investment company. Although he successfully withdrew 40,000 Hong Kong dollars at one point, after depositing 10,000 Hong Kong dollars as a "deposit" and "handling fee," he was unable to make further withdrawals, ultimately losing 80,000 Hong Kong dollars.
