TechFlow news, December 29 — According to Dlnews, Kim Byung-ki, floor leader of South Korea's ruling Democratic Party, has been accused of attacking Upbit, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, after his son secured an internship position at Bithumb.
A former aide of Kim revealed that in February he was suddenly instructed to "attack" Dunamu, the operator of Upbit, over its so-called "monopolistic" market dominance, which was described as a serious issue. The instruction reportedly came shortly after Kim held a private meeting with Bithumb.
Kim denied the allegations, stating that he merely expressed the common-sense view that "the monopoly of any company cannot be justified," and emphasized that Bithumb's operations and hiring practices are "completely unrelated to me."
