TechFlow, on December 24, according to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's press release, the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and the Securities and Futures Commission jointly published a consultation summary on legislative proposals for a licensing regime for virtual asset trading and custody service providers. It noted that they received 101 and 93 written submissions respectively regarding the proposed licensing regimes for virtual asset trading service providers and virtual asset custody service providers. The majority of respondents clearly expressed support for extending the regulatory scope to include virtual asset trading and custody services following the implementation of the virtual asset trading platform licensing regime in June 2023. Additionally, the two bodies announced a further one-month public consultation on licensing regimes for service providers offering advisory services on virtual assets and virtual asset management services, running until January 23, 2026.
