TechFlow, December 21 — According to an article published by Science and Technology Daily titled "Digital RMB Applications Accelerate: Beware of These Fraud Traps," Liu Xiaochun, Director of the Shanghai Financial Digitalization Research Center, revealed that illegal elements are using instant messaging platforms and other channels to spread information about purchasing digital RMB wallets with promises of high returns, then using the acquired digital RMB wallets to carry out telecom fraud, money laundering, and other criminal activities. Some fraudsters also design fake event pages to harvest personal information and steal funds. Dong Ximiao, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Financial Development Laboratory, pointed out that the key to preventing digital RMB fraud lies in recognizing its ordinary nature as legal tender, eliminating any greed for quick profits, and safeguarding wallet passwords and verification codes just as one would protect physical cash.
