TechFlow news, December 17 — According to Cryptopolitan, the Russian government plans to implement a year-round cryptocurrency mining ban in the Republic of Buryatia and Zabaykalsky Krai starting from 2026. These regions currently have only temporary winter restrictions (from November 15, 2025, to March 2026), but a draft document from the Government Commission on Power Industry Development indicates these limitations will be extended into permanent measures.
This move marks Russia's latest step in cracking down on cryptocurrency mining. At least 10 regions across the country already have long-term mining bans in place, lasting until spring 2031. The Russian Ministry of Energy previously stated it is closely monitoring energy conditions in these areas and is prepared to take swift action.
