TechFlow news, December 17 — According to Bloomberg, UK Communities Secretary Steve Reed announced in the House of Commons on Tuesday that Britain will launch an investigation into the role of cryptocurrency in political financing, as part of a broader review of political financial laws. The review is chaired by former senior civil servant Philip Rycroft and stems from bribery cases involving politicians from Reform UK.
The investigation will focus on foreign financial interference in UK politics and is expected to complete its report by the end of March 2026. Reed said the findings would inform the government's planned electoral and democratic legislation to be advanced next year.
