TechFlow, December 14 — According to Red Star News, a cryptocurrency-related murder case occurred in Vienna, Austria. The victim was Danila Kuzmin, the 21-year-old son of Sergey Kuzmin, deputy mayor of Kharkiv, Ukraine. Two suspects, both Ukrainian nationals, have been arrested.
Police investigations revealed that the motive was to obtain Danila's cryptocurrency wallet passwords. While studying in Vienna, Danila had told classmates that his father was a deputy mayor and owned cryptocurrency assets. The suspects first attacked Danila in a hotel parking lot, then kept him confined in a vehicle for several hours, torturing him until he disclosed the passwords to two crypto wallets.
The suspects are identified as 45-year-old Alexander Agoyev, a former Ukrainian customs official, and 19-year-old Bogdan Reynzhuk, who is the stepson of Olesya Ilashuk, Ukraine’s ambassador to Bulgaria. Police confirmed large cryptocurrency transfers from Danila’s wallets, and significant amounts of U.S. cash were found on the suspects at the time of arrest. After draining the wallets, the suspects murdered Danila and set fire to his body to destroy evidence. Both are currently held in provisional detention for 40 days.
