Adams stated that Citadel has been lobbying regulators behind the scenes to treat software developers of decentralized protocols as centralized intermediaries for regulatory purposes. He mocked Citadel's argument criticizing DeFi for lacking "fair access," saying, "The king of traditional financial market makers dislikes open-source, peer-to-peer technology lowering the barriers to liquidity provision."
