TechFlow news, December 3 — According to The Block, former FTX cryptocurrency exchange CEO Sam Bankman-Fried praised on social media Tuesday President Trump's decision to pardon former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, saying "few people deserve freedom more than him." Hernández had previously been sentenced to 45 years in prison on drug trafficking charges.
Bankman-Fried himself is currently serving a 25-year sentence for fraud and conspiracy charges related to stealing billions in customer funds and is seeking a presidential pardon from Trump. Analysts believe his chances of receiving clemency are extremely low, given that he donated $5.2 million to Biden's 2020 campaign to help defeat Trump. His appeal is currently pending before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, with a ruling not expected until next year.
