TechFlow news, November 27 — According to Cryptobriefing, UFC star Conor McGregor has publicly accused long-time rival Khabib Nurmagomedov of scamming fans through the sale of NFTs themed around the traditional Dagestani hat.
Nurmagomedov released a series of NFT digital collectibles inspired by the papakha, a traditional Dagestani hat. Social media reports indicate the sale generated approximately $4.4 million in revenue. After the sale concluded, Nurmagomedov deleted his previous posts promoting the NFTs.
McGregor accused Nurmagomedov of exploiting his late father's name and Dagestani culture to defraud fans, calling it a "disgrace and stain" on his father's legacy. Nurmagomedov fired back, labeling McGregor an "absolute fraud," and maintained that the NFTs were valuable "digital gifts" intended to celebrate Dagestani tradition.
Notably, McGregor previously partnered with Real World Gaming DAO to launch a meme token called REAL, but the presale failed to meet its target, ultimately resulting in refunds for all participants.
