TechFlow, November 26 — According to DLnews, Thailand's Personal Data Protection Committee has ordered the World project, founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, to delete over 1.2 million iris scan records collected in the country and immediately suspend all operations in Thailand. A Thai expert panel concluded that the project’s practice of exchanging cryptocurrency for biometric data violates local data protection laws.
The World project (formerly Worldcoin) is under scrutiny in multiple countries worldwide, with European nations such as Germany having already determined it breaches data protection regulations.
