TechFlow, Nov 21 — According to Cryptopolitan, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Crypto Task Force announced it will host a roundtable on December 15 to discuss growing concerns around privacy and financial surveillance within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The event will bring together leaders from the crypto industry and SEC officials to examine current challenges and explore potential solutions.
The meeting comes amid heightened scrutiny of privacy issues in the crypto sector, including the partial conviction of Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, the sentencing of Samourai Wallet developers, and a significant surge in privacy coin prices over the past two months.
Notably, Matthew Galeotti, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, stated in August that the DOJ would cease prosecuting developers solely for writing open-source code, emphasizing that coding itself is not criminal without malicious intent.
