TechFlow news, on November 17, the WeChat Security Center announced: "Recently, we have received user complaints that some WeChat accounts engage in illegal activities such as pyramid schemes and fraud within WeChat groups. These activities falsely claim to be related to unfreezing national assets, government policies, engineering projects, blockchain virtual currencies, stablecoins, etc., using promises of high returns to lure users into joining WeChat groups. Within these groups, users are encouraged to invite others, share suspicious links leading to fraudulent app downloads, conduct daily check-ins, attend meetings or courses—engaging in brainwashing activities—and ultimately carry out fraud. Such behaviors seriously infringe upon users' property rights.
Once verified, the platform will take graduated enforcement actions against relevant accounts based on national laws and regulations, as well as platform agreements and rules including the 'Tencent WeChat Software License and Service Agreement' and the 'WeChat Personal Account Usage Guidelines,' depending on the severity of the violation. Repeated offenders may face permanent login restrictions. For confirmed non-compliant WeChat groups, group functions will be suspended."
